Emeril's Sugar Shack

Last night we went to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival for Emeril’s Sugar Shack Party. We had such a great time, it was an awesome event and evening. Fernando gave me the tickets for Valentine’s Day which automatically gives him Husband of the year award! It was such a thoughtful gift, I have wanted to go to this event ever since it began and finally this was the year.

We arrived in South Beach around 8pm, the event began at 10pm, but we want to see what else was happening in South Beach before the Sugar Shack event. So, we parked at the hotel (The Raleigh Hotel) and walked around a bit at the hotel then walked to Ocean Drive to see what was going on. South Beach was very busy that evening and I’m sure most of it had to do with the Food Festival. It was a beautiful evening, not to hot and not to humid, just right. There was one other event going on at the time the Bubble Q, that is also a ticketed event so we just saw the people coming and going with Champagne glasses hanging around there neck. LOL

So we headed back to The Raleigh Hotel, the hotel is very beautiful by the way and seems to be nice place to go for a drink or have dinner sometime. By the time we got back a line was forming to get into the event so we got in line. At 10pm they began letting the guests in and as soon as we walked thru the doors the Champagne was flowing and the desserts were served. Perrier-Jouët Champagne was who presented the event therefore it was everywhere along with Illy Espresso, Evian water and some kind of ice cream, didn’t catch the brand. They had a few different mixed drinks using the Champagne one of them was a mojito, of course I liked that one.

Onto the desserts, they had four different “dessert stations” let’s call them each one was representing a different location of Emeril’s Restaurants. (Miami, Orlando, New Orleans and Las Vegas) They had mini pecan pies, brownies, bananas foster, mini key lime pies, cookies and a few others it was heaven. Emeril was there we got some pics none of him and I together though. He stayed in his VIP cabana the whole event so unfortunately we never had the chance to shake his hand and say what big fans we were, but it was neat having him there. At one point while watching Emeril in the cabana Tyler Florence shows up, was standing right next to us, then he goes into the tent and talks to Emeril for while. It was very exciting to him also, he’s such a cutie. So when he comes out Fer says, “Do you want a picture with him?” of course I say “yes” and Fer jumps in front of Tyler Florence and asks if we can have a picture with him (second husband of the year award), I jump in and voila. Little does he know that’s my second photo with him.

We had a great time, it was such a nice and well done event, the only thing that could have made it better was being able to meet Emeril in person but what can you do… I know go next year.
