December is Coming

Well I don't want to pass right over Thanksgiving - that is a very important holiday for me, but I do want to remind you about Ali Edwards Annual December Daily Project and if you haven't been to her website lately she's already in December Daily prep mode. So head on over there and start gathering your supplies and deciding how you'd like to document a very magical time of the year in your life.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going all digital this year or a combination of paper and digi or go all old school with paper and glue. :) We'll see, but no matter what HAVE FUN!

December Daily: Complete

Here is the completed product. I am so happy that I accomplished this album this season. It was a pleasure to do and a nice way to remember the holiday season.

Here it is page by page, starting with the cover:

this is how the cover started out and here's a picture of the back also.

the ornament pictures are from Trader Joe's paper bags, I cut them up and they are throughout the book, really pretty paper bags.

the three circles on the left hand page are three samples of wrapping paper I used this christmas. I just used a circle punch to cut them out. Of course there are a lot of pictures of Zico Biscuit in all his cuteness and mischief this holiday season.

I included our holiday card (if I ever mail them out) also so I wouldn't forget what it was.
then I started adding christmas cards that people had sent us this year.
I had a lot of pictures I wanted to incorporate so I ended up making a few collages in Picasa to get all the pics in the book, I tried to organize them by theme - here's one of Zico. I also included a picture of our christmas tree and lights in the book it's so still this photo I love it.
a recipe for one of the new treats I tried making this year. Peppermint Bark.

some pictures from our anniversary trip to Savannah!

what probably should have been our Xmas card but we didn't take the picture until Christmas day. I wrote on the paper with a silver sharpie.
and some more of the Trader Joe's paper bags.
So that's it for this year! Such a nice feeling of accomplishment and a good way to start the new year. Next year I think I will just do a "photo a day" on my blog and document the season that way instead of creating an album, it was fun to do this year but you know you have change things up from time to time.
Hope you all are continuing to enjoy your holiday season!!

December Daily: Christmas Cards

I decided to incorporate all the Christmas cards people sent us this year into my December Daily album because it really means a lot to me to receive these cards during the holiday season (I'm STILL working on getting mine out) Since I took them down this morning I wanted to take a quick photo to show how we hang our Christmas cards during the season. All I did was take a ribbon fold it at one end loop a plastic ring thru it and sew that folded end together and hang. I use little cloths pins or paperclips to hang the cards on the ribbon.

this year we got so many that I had to make another ribbon hanger and hang some on the other side of the wall. Can you find yours?

and of course I couldn't resist this photo, Zico just manages to snuggle up where ever he can. We are reorganizing the heck out of the apartment so we have things all over the place. Zico climbed up on the suitcase and made a little bed out of it. So cute.

December Daily: December 11, 12, 13 and 14

I was waiting for this day to come and it did, the holidays never disappoint and the funny thing is that what arrived was just not enough time to sit and document what was going on...make sense. I knew that the time would come that I had so much going on and so much I wanted to accomplish that it would just start RUSHING by without hardly anytime to realize what was going on and it did. But that's all part of what I wanted to make note of this holiday season, just exactly how it unfolds. So I decided to make a collage of some of the events and then possibly (if I have time) go back and tell more about the story of each event.

Just a brief look at each picture here in the grid:
1. making fudge (Mom's recipe) 2. wrapping gifts for the gang 3. stringing lights up for decoration at our holiday party4. Me and Harshal 5. Zico Biscuit at the party 6. company presents (oh yeah!) 7. food at the party 8. getting ready to do some baking. 9. Oh Christmas Tree - PEACE 10. cheese and crackers for girls night, when we watched Julie and Julia.
So there we go, got caught up and back on target. Hope you're enjoying your season even with all the craziness included.

December Daily: December 8th and 9th

December 8th I did all my shopping for everything I want to bake this holiday season. We are having a Christmas party this weekend and I've asked everyone to bring something traditional to their country or their families celebrations for the holidays. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has to share. I'll be sharing one of my favorite cookies, my Mom's fudge and something that I recently started making, Peppermint Bark. YUM! I can hardly wait!

Picture of the Christmas tree in the calmness of the evening, before a good friend of mine came over for dinner. Pizza... nonetheless. :)
Did some shopping ... finally found a dress for the work Christmas party and of course some other goodies.
Here's the peppermint bark in the fridge - chillin'. :) It's SUPER simple! Recipe courtesy of Paula Deen!

December Daily: December 7th

One the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me.... oh he already had given me this little adorable puppy and now I get to experience the best time of the year with him. On the 7th of December Zico got dressed up and posed in front of the Christmas tree for some great photos. He's such a good boy. Of course he never ceases to surprise me with the things he does.... once I turned my back he had grabbed the tree skirt and start playing with it, I couldn't resist but to take a photo and then of course rip it out of his hands, I mean paws.

Here are two of the best photos (it was so hard to pick) that I took on Monday evening of Zico in his Christmas sweater posing (for a treat) next to the tree. Don't you just want to squeeze his cheeks!

I hope you're enjoying all the moments of the Christmas season!

December Daily: Day 6

Day 6: Zico and I worked on possible photo options for our christmas cards this year, today we were practicing the poses and then the next time Zico got all spiffied up for the photo shoot. What a CUTIE he is! This was a busy weekend for us because Fer was preparing for a trip and a big event in Savannah for work. So these pictures were taken on Sunday evening when it was finally time to relax, at least for Zico and I.

I also took pictures of some of the decorations we have around the apartment for Xmas. Here's a photo of the felt garland I made, I love it. I have it wrapped around some candles above the entertainment center.

this is one of the FIRST christmas ornaments Fer and I ever bought it's Santa kneeling down to Baby Jesus, it's one of my favorites I just love the look of it and the calmess, I guess you could say. It's so peaceful.

December Daily: Catching Up

Here I'm playing catch up with posting some pictures from my December Daily project. I am really enjoying this project this year because I am not putting any pressure on myself I am documenting the moments as they happen no matter what happens. Here's what's been happening the past few days.

Day 1: The tree is up, it's a small artifical tree but I love it, to me it's perfect and it's such a joy to see in the apartment. Still a few more touches to add to it and I'll photograph them as they happen. (like putting a topper on the tree)

Day 2: Fer and I went Atlantic Station here in Atlanta and had lunch by the big christmas tree in the center of the "square". Took this photo of us from the reflection on the ornament. I love it!

Day 3: I was inspired to make this garland last year from reading one of Ali's Weekend Creative posts, but never got to it. I even cut all the felt but never had time to sew it together, this year I finally made it a priority and I think it came out great.
Day 4: was a Friday and did not do much that was Christmassy. I am in the process of receiving a promotion at work and this past Friday I was working like crazy to complete some projects for my old position and start some projects for the new position I'll be getting so the most I could accomplish that had to do with Christmas was to stop in at the Pottery Barn during lunch and pick up this ornament for our Christmas tree.
Day 5: Fer and I took our "son" "our first born" to sit on Santa's lap! Isn't this an awesome picture. We are having so much fun with Zico and are truely enjoying the experience of being new parents and everything that can go along with "kids" during the holidays. Everyone at the pet shop said that Zico took the cutest picture they had seen all day! What a cutie.
So that's it so far... I am really enjoying this Christmas season and I think that I'm enjoying it so much because I'm taking it how it comes --- no pressure this year. Of course I say that now... we're planning a holiday party on Saturday and I'm sure at some point this week I'll start stressing... but I'll try not to. :) Hope your season and your project is going well.
