Holiday Subway Art

A few days ago I came across the blog eighteen 25 and saw this awesome Holiday Subway art that the gals of eighteen 25 were giving away for FREE, how awesome is that! I have been wanting to make or buy some subway art for our house and this is just a cute way of incorporating that type of art and something for the holidays in our home right now. The Christmas Season has Begun

A quick and crafty post of something I created over the weekend. For some reason I am all about pom poms this holiday season so I started by making a little red and white pom pom christmas tree, it was super easy all you need is a styrofoam tree form, pom poms and a hot glue gun. I decided an ornament on top of the tree was better than the original single pom pom I had on it so other than that it's all pom poms. :)

I wanted it to be mostly white with just touches of red as you can see from the pictures. Easy peasy I hope you have time to whip one up and I hope that this inspires you to get crafty this now this holiday season.

Project Wednesday: Picture Wall Reveal

Finally my picture wall project is complete and I have photographed it to post here. I was totally inspired by this post by Ali proabably a year ago, so when Fer said he wanted more pictures of our families around the house I jumped on the opportunity to create this "headboard" of photos above our bed. Of course you can expect more of these type of photo walls to pop up around the aparment for sure.

I bought all the frames from Ikea (disregard the fire alarm above the photos) and printed them out on my home printer using Picasa - I printed them all in Sepia tone to go along with the tones of our room.

I love ALL of these photos and they make us smile everytime we look at them!

Art, Love, Family, Happiness.... I can go on and on.

Martha Stewart = Art

Personally I think the covers of Martha Stewart Living are works of art, have you seen the lastest issue it's stunning. I love the summery colors, someday I will have a wall dedicated to Martha Stewart Living Magazine covers.

Project Wednesday: Photo Wall (almost done)

Didn't have a chance to take a picture of the final product yet, but it's awesome. Just haven't had a chance to get the proper lighting in the room yet...

Valentine's Weekend

I hope you all had a great Valentine's weekend and that it was full of love and friendship. Here's the finished project of the little scrabble love art that I made a few weeks back.

Project Wednesday: It's coming together

slowly but surely, my valentine's day art is coming together.

Goal: Get to know my camera

I got this camera, a Canon G10, last christmas (not this past one the one before) and I don't feel that I know it as well as I could. So one of my goals this year is to not feel the need to replace this camera anytime soon and really get to know all the bells and whistles it has. I'm always looking to replace it with an SLR but I like the compactness of this one and for me I think the only thing that an SLR would do that I want is "blur the background" so now I need to figure how to do that with this camera and prove to myself that this is all I need. :)

Savannah: Anniversary Trip

Fer and I wanted to go on a short little getaway for our anniversary this year and what better place for us but, Savannah! (I know we need to branch out but we really enjoy our trips to Savannah, so there.) This time we stayed in two different hotels because we were there for both business and pleasure. First we stayed in a new hotel called The Bohemian, which is located on Bay Street on the side facing the river, it's a boutique hotel, part of the Kessler Group and it's beautiful. The hotel staff if very friendly and helpful and it's decorated with all kinds of amazing art, definitely worth the visit.

Here's a picture of Fer and I, we were spending our 12th anniversary in Savannah. Amazing to me that we have been married for 12 years... holy cow. I am truly blessed.

then we switched from The Bohemian Hotel to The Mansion at Forsyth Park - same family of hotel and equally as beautiful.

Since we were there during the week we were able to go to Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room Restaurant, it's a Savannah classic and so delicious. All comfort food and so much of it (easily 15 different plates) that you feel like you're having Thanksgiving dinner.

We waited around until everyone left from our table so that I could take a picture of just HOW much food you can eat... It's something else, huh.

We always have to visit Forsyth Park while we are there, this time our hotel was across the street from the park. It's so beautiful there.

Here's a close up of the Christmas Tree at the Mansion. It was so pretty and a great idea, a white tree with beautiful aqua ornaments on the tree.

and a close up of the tree at The Bohemian Hotel, different but equally as gorgeous. This tree was silver with white lights and deep purple ornaments but this one had a seaside them with shells and starfish hanging from the tree, I loved this one.

oh la la... Zico Biscuit in Paris.

A few days ago I was reading thru Paris Breakfasts blog as I do every morning and I noticed that Carol the artist behind the blog will paint "your pet" in Paris!! Who wouldn't want that! I am in the process of decorating my office at work and it seems to be going in the direction of a Paris theme so I thought this would be an awesome way to have an original piece of art with Zico Biscuit in it and even better set in Paris!! Original Art + Zico Biscuit + Paris = Priceless!

So I sent in this picture to Carol and this was the process.

a day or two after sending the photo in I received these sketches in my email box so I could pick one out to be used in the painting. I chose number 4.


after a few more days (the whole process took about a week) this showed up in my mailbox at home. Here's the cool French envelope that she uses to send the painting in. and TA DA! The beautiful painting of Zico in Paris in front of Laduree. Isn't' it great.

here is a picture of her cool postcards she includes in the packaging that advertises her paintings of your pet in Paris. Even the postcard is a work of art.

it was such a pleasure working with Carol of Paris Breakfasts and I'm looking forward to someday seeing one of her exhibits in person and hopefully purchasing some more art. :)

Project Wednesday: Work in Progress

I'm starting to work on some Valentine's Day Projects, here's one. I am so happy that I am FINALLY using some of the many art supplies I have bought over the years. Here's I'm using one of the Martha Stewart shadow boxes that I bought a long time ago and a Martha Stewart heart punch I got not to long ago. I thought it would be cool to use scrabble letters to spell out some stuff in the picture. I got the scrabble letters (clip art) from Designer Digitals. what do you think so far? I think it would be even cooler to use actual scrabble tiles but we'll see about that.

whipped up a new blog banner for the fall season. It's cold here in GA today so I guess I have to realize the fact that it's Fall now.

A little Art and Love for your Sunday

I found this website (you may already know about it) but it's really cool you can take any picture and turn it into an old fashioned polaroid! Yes the actual camera may be becoming extinct but you can still make them digitally.

It's called Poladroid and it can be found here. Once you download it you get this cute little polaroid camera on your desktop and all you have to do is drop a photo you want to "polaroid" and then it pops out. :)

some more sightseeing in Atlanta

Working my way backwards now in the month (last month) and sprinkling in current events of December here I go trying to catch up on my blogging. November was a very busy month with my parents coming to visit us in Atlanta and then Fer and I heading to Connecticut for Thanksgiving I hardly had any time to keep up with all we did and I don't think December will be any less busy.

One of the places I had been waiting to visit until my parents were here (especially my Mom) was the Margaret Mitchell House (author of Gone with the Wind). She wrote the book while living right here in Atlanta and you can now go tour where she lived while she wrote it and also a museum dedicated to the movie. It's definitely a must see while here in Atlanta and you'll be surprised that the "house" you see when you drive by and think ohh that's so Gone with the Wind was actually a house with 10 apartments in it and she lived in ONE of them in the basement, but it is still worth seeing.

She was a reporter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution before she wrote the book.
