The Counter

This weekend we went to try out a new burger joint and let me tell you boy was it GOOD! Probably one of the best hamburgers I've had in a long time. YUMMY!
We went to the Counter Burger in Roswell, GA - I would say it's a upscale, yet casual still, Hamburger Restaurant. The concept of the restaurant is that you can "build your own burger", which is fun and stressful (LOL) at the same time. There were so many options and of course your want to build the best burger. You can also just order an already decided on burger if you'd like off the menu. I went kind of mainstream with my selections grilled onions, provolone cheese... and coleslaw. :) Didn't want to go to nuts at first. But you can order things like grilled pineapple and fried egg as well for your hamburger.

Here's a picture of the bar area of the restaurant. You can choose beer from the tap or some vino if you'd like. Sounds good to me. The decor is pretty cool too.
Here's a burger with a fried egg on top. Yummy.

Hope you have a chance to check out this place some time soon, it was really good!

Birthday Dinner and New Entry for the "Guide"

Monday night for my birthday dinner, Fer took me and Miss Harshal out to a cool Wine Bar/Restaurant. You can imagine that it was totally up my alley. :) The place is in Buckhead and it's called Cellar 56, it's awesome!!! The wine selection is great and the food is amazing!! We dined on things ranging from a cheese platter to short ribs and every dish was outstanding. Here's some photos from the evening.

Isn't this a cool idea the menu is attached to a cut up wine crate, I love it!
On Mondays you can take a Wine World Tour, you get four different wines to taste for $10. They opened a special bottle of wine for us that day because they heard it was my birthday, the staff was awesome there.

the white wine portion of the tasting...

and now onto the red, cool photos huh.

they gave us a complimentary dessert for my birthday :) which was a white chocolate bread pudding and it WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
Pot of Chocolate. Mmmmm

Me and Miss Harshal.
There's the man!

I totally recommend you trying out this restaurant whenever you are in ATL I don't think you'll be disappointed. I can't wait to go back!

Six Feet Under {the pub}

Next entry for the Guide is Six Feet Under. It's a Pub and Fish House and for a pub the food is AMAZING. As you know in Atlanta we are land locked any beach is about 3 1/2 to 4 hours away, but for some reason I don't know if it's because of the delicious seafood or the outdoor deck seating you feel like you are near the ocean. Once up on the deck for some reason you feel like you should be looking out over the water. This is a very nice place to take in the views of Atlanta, as long as you can get a seat on the upper deck; which in my opinion is worth the wait.

We went to the 11th Street location in Midtown.

Brick Store Pub

Let's kick off the Guide to Atlanta's Bar & Restaurants according to EM (and friends) with great little pub located in Decatur Georgia

Brick Store Pub
125 E. Court Square
Decatur, GA 30030

First of all Decatur is a great little town and one that we will need to discover more of; this was our first visit to the area. We were invited by a good friend to visit this pub and I'm glad we were able to make it since it was really cool. There was probably over 200 different beers on the menu and what I thought was great about it since I only know a handful of beers that I like by name, the waiter asked what KIND of beer do you like and gave you all kinds of options to choose from and then selected the one that he felt best suit your taste. (almost like telling your fortune I think, LOL) I'm not sure if all the waiters do that there but I have a feeling they do.

As far as food, we had a sandwich it was good but as usual the food at a pub is not REALLY the reason you go to a pub, but the food here was decent.

So I highly recommend this be a stop on your journey thru Hotlanta and a good excuse to check out the little town of Decatur as well.

EM's Mojito Tutorial

Mojitos are my favorite drink and I love making them for people, they involve a bit of work but are so tasty that they are well worth it. Recently someone asked how I make them and in an effort to pass on my recipe and method I decided to put together this tutorial for all to read. [of course that person who asked for the recipe has already created her own version of them which I can't wait to try.]

Step 1: gather your ingredients

The ingredients I use are: sugar (granulated) limes, fresh mint, barcardi rum and splash of sprite at the end.

I have a small garden on my balcony and have been growing mint for awhile specifically for mojitos.

Step 2: Cut up the limes (usually I use half a lime for each drink, cut in quarters) add a tablespoon of sugar and then muddle to squeeze out the juice of the limes and mix in the sugar.

this is what it will look like once it's been muddled.

Step 3: Add the mint and then muddle again.

Step 4: The most important add rum (to your liking)

Step 5: add ice
Step 6: top it off with some sprite and....
Voila you have a delicious refreshing mojito.

CHEERS!

trying to get organized and keep things interesting

story of our lives, huh. I have been meaning to and will hopefully this week get organized so that I can post something to my blog at least three times a week. (we'll see what happens) As you can see from the side buttons I am creating two new categories/features to my blog.

One is called backyard traveler: Atlanta which is an idea I got from this blog awhile ago and it's just about exploring your own backyard and sharing it with others so perhaps when someone is looking for something to do in ATL they will use my blog as a resource. (that would be cool)

The other is ATL: Bar & Restaurant Guide, (will be posting shortly to this category) this is a fun little "project" some friends and I are working on together, a lot of us are new here to Atlanta and don't know all the cool places to go so whenever we get a good tip - we've been adding it to the GUIDE (already on facebook) and telling a little about the place we visited and posting some pictures.

Both projects are fun and just an excuse to go out and do something. Stay tuned to see what places we find on our adventure.
