Weekend Creative

Occasionally Ali Edwards will post a "Weekend Creative" project on her blog, well this week she has been posting articles all week about scrapbooking with your computer. I highly recommend you taking some time and reading thru her posts from this past week and get inspired. She also has a few free downloads - what else could we ask for?

December Daily Day 2

On the second day of Christmas.... fa la la la la ..... little by little we're getting in the Christmas spirit here in our home.

Gathered up my collection of Martha Stewart Magazines and cookbook books to begin selecting what type of cookies I'll be making this year for holiday gifts.

Capture the Moments of this holiday season!

I really enjoy reading Ali Edwards blog (as I have mentioned before) and I find her ideas of capturing the moment to be a constant inspiration to me to be present in all I do. She created a project called December Daily and has done it for a few years just like the "Week in the Life" project where you document something or as much as you want for everyday (in this case) of the holiday season... the 25 days of christmas.

So I'm following along and creating my own little scrapbook/journal for the 25 days of christmas. I will keep you posted on my blog of how things are going and in the next day or two will show the book I made to capture all my "moments" in.

Slowly but surely I'm moving along with my Photoshop - Digital Scrapbooking Class. It is truly amazing all you can do with Photoshop every lesson I'm amazed. I would once again highly recommend anyone take a class with Jessica Sprague if you can it's well worth the time and money. You can even sign up for the free one she's offering beginning in the next few days. :)

Notice on the left hand bottom corner the semi transparent photo, cool huh. I even did "stitching" on the blue polka dot paper edges. Awesome Awesome Awesome! I love this stuff. :)

My Week in the Life album inspired by Ali Edwards is now complete. I loved this process and it felt so good to be creative and complete a project.

Here is my album:

The album I used was from the Martha Stewart Craft line a Michaels, have had it for awhile finally using it. I took off the front title block and also the photo corners inside - they weren't working for me.

the cover, I love it. I used one of the calendar templates from Heather Ann Designs and put the photo of Fer and I walking underneath the calendar. I did use photo corners here.

each page was the same in a sense, I took one main photo from the day 4x6 and stamped it with Ali Edwards Days + Months Title + Journal Photo Overlays from Designer Digitals and then used a square punch to punch out six photos from the day and put them on the page below.

the process is coming together...

I'm finally getting the chance to sit down and work on my Week in the Life album. I'm making a mini album with simple clean lines nothing to fancy but shortly I'll be done and it will be an accomplishment!!

Lesson 2, Check!

Moving right along with my online Photoshop class. This is lesson two completed. So what do you think? I am REALLY enjoying this class!!! It's truly amazing all the stuff you can do with Photoshop. In this layout I used pictures from our trip to New York City this past summer. Cool dude, cool couple. :)

Now onto Lesson 3, can't wait to see what's next.

Week in the Life

This week I've been working on a project called "Week In The Life" inspired by Ali Edwards. Here is the post where she introduced the project - weekend creative : documenting a week in your life - and everyday since then she has been updating us on her progress and giving great tips on how to take better pictures, how to organize your projects, ways of documenting it and just plain encouragement to keep you going with it.

It's been a lot of fun - this has not been (i will say) one of my most exciting weeks but it does give me and who ever sees the pictures a taste of the daily life I live. :) I probably should be taking more pictures than I am but what can you do you have to start someone, right.

I think this is a project you can do from time to time and what I like about it and something that I get from Ali's posts is that sometimes we move thru life very fast and as they say don't take time to smell the roses. For example, Fer and I have moved a few times in the past few years and sometimes you don't even remember part of a house you were in or what was your daily routine in that place, this project makes you remember how things were. I'm really enjoying it.

This week long project started this past Monday and will continue thru to Sunday (tomorrow) at the end of the project I will create a mini album and will post pictures of that when it's finished.

Here's some of my pictures from this "Week in the Life" project so far, I will fill in more on each day later:

Can't start off the week without a BIG cup of coffee.Fer has been working so hard, I really appreciate all he does for us. As soon as he gets up he's at his laptop in his robe working away already.

Thursday Fer worked from home for a while we were side by side with our laptops conquering the world.


It's getting chilly up here, winter is coming.

Lesson 1, Completed!

I completed my first digital scrapbook layout. I recently signed up for the "Now We're Rockin' with Photoshop" class on Jessica Sprague's website. It's great, I had purchased Photoshop Elements a few months ago and really like it but I knew there was so much more to it then I was using it for and didn't really feel like reading a boring book on it so I signed up for this class and I've already learned a ton of stuff! Amazing what you can do with this program.

Here's my first layout:

of course it's of Fernando. It's from a trip we made to Disney World a while ago. I'll breakdown a few of the elements of this page (so you know all the hard work I put into this.) ;)

I turned the photo into a sepia tone image then brought back the color to just one element of the photo as you can see the pumpkin. I added the torn page element and then put the blue background paper over that. Then I "cut" out of paper the journalling tag and added two journalling columns to write in. Cut out letters from an alphabet set to spell fun on the top of the page. The messy parts around the entire page are a "frame". Added the two hearts as an embellishment and then within the picture "stamped" two brush marks (the hearts in white) on the photo. I'm sure there's more that I can't remember now. But isn't it cool. I love it, I wonder what's next.
