Sangria - How to...

A few weeks ago we attended a party and they had Sangria (now Sangria can go either way... good or bad, I think) but this Sangria in particular was DELICIOUS! It starts with Boxed Wine (LOL)

don't pay attention to what is holding up the boxed wine... Zico's food bucket
add lemons, oranges, apples and mint
a cup of cointreau, and a bottle of sprite and you're done! ENJOY

Soccer Parties

Just in case you are having soccer withdrawals let me post about a soccer party we had back in May when Inter de Milan played in the European Championship game (Fer correct me if I'm wrong) and WON! We had an Italian themed party since we were rooting for Inter.

We made Panini and Caprese Salad, had breadsticks and followed up the meal with Tiramisu sounds like fun huh.

.... And the Winner is....

32 TEams, 32 Stories - Can you believe it's over? A month of Soccer (almost everyday) a month of excitement a month of listening to the Vuvuzelas and now it's over. The only good part is that we won't hear those horns anymore but other than that I know there is some sadness in our household. Fer LOVES soccer and the world cup is IT for him, so now he'll have to return to regular soccer matches or re-watch the world cup games just a few more times. This world cup had some really exciting games and the part I like the best (about all these final games) is getting together with friends to watch the games it's always more exciting being surrounded by people who are just excited to see a team win as you are.

So that's it and Spain is the winner - Congrats to them and now we will return to our regularly programed lives. :)

Two Thumbs Up Movie Review

Over the weekend we watched this movie "Best in Show" I can't believe I had never seen it before because it was HILARIOUS! A must see for anyone doesn't matter if you have dogs or not but of course if you do you can laugh at all the extremes you could go to with them and even see yourself going to. So put that movie in your queue next time you're looking for a good laugh.

TV Lineup

I don't know if you've been enjoying some of the new TV shows that are out there lately like I am but FINALLY there is some good TV on TV! I think since Seinfeld there has not been a sitcom that I have been crazy about until this new show Modern Family came out this year. It's hilarious, absolutely hilarious! It's about three different families but they are all related. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should I think you'll like it. It's on ABC on Wednesdays at 9pm.
The other show that I love right now (and funny it has something to do with Jerry Seinfeld) is called the Marriage Ref. It's so funny, they deal with real life silly arguments of married couples and there is a panel of celebrities that judge the problem and vote on it. Of course usually the celebrities have had their own messed up marriages which makes it even more funny. You've got to catch this show some time it's just good stuff.
The show that I still really enjoy and am sad that this is it's last season is Ugly Betty I love the scenes of New York and all the fashion.
Have to mention the Celebrity Apprentice, it's the usual Donald Trump train wreck but I always get hooked on it and there's even more of a reason this year since Bret Michaels is on it. :)
The only one of my favorite shows that is really stinking this year is American Idol. I love the show, but this year for me it's just not good - what can we do. Maybe this will be the last year and that's fine.
So that's my favorite TV shows this season, how about you? What are your fav shows... do you enjoy any of these shows.

Entertaining: It's all in the Details

I had a few friends over last night for Pizza and to watch American Idol. We had a great time and it reminded me that entertaining does not have to be hard or stressful, that it can be very easy. But it also reminded me that it's all in the details. I picked up some delicious bread from our neighborhood bakery along with some yummy olive oil from Napa :) and set the table ready for everyone when they arrived. We had a great time.

Rosemary Foccacia (sp?), YUM.
A very simple place setting.

AI: The Girls

So what did you think of last night's show, some of the girls were awesome and some were trying to be singers other than themselves.

This one I thought was great!

Can't wait to see how the season unfolds.

Happy Friday

While organizing some things this past weekend I came across this cartoon I had saved from a while back about wine tasting, don't you love it! I think it's hilarious.

Ellen on Idol: So what do you think?

I actually tivo'd both Tuesday's show and Wednesday's show and am going to watch them tonight, but I'm sure Ellen will be awesome on American Idol, looking forward to watching her this year. At least I'm sure she'll be able to form complete sentences!

Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night

Here we go again! I can't wait for AI to begin, for sure my friends and I will be glued to the TV tonight seeing what this new season has to bring us - wonder if anyone can top Adam Lambert?!

That Was It

Fer and I went last night to see Michael Jackson's movie This Is it and shall I say that it was AMAZING! I highly recommend everyone seeing it and was reminded last night what a genius he was and believe now more than ever that he was all about love. He was truly the best entertainer out there - he breathed his music and dance.

Paul in the Park

August 15th, 2009 was the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock, the 45th Anniversary of the Beatles playing at Shea Stadium and the Green Concert in Piedmont Park Atlanta, GA with the one and only Sir Paul McCartney performing. THOUSANDS of people enjoying Paul McCartney and the Beatles music and thousands of people singing together Give Peace a Chance, it was such and honor to be present for this and to be a part of it.

Here's some pictures of the audience.

Paul did a tribute to George Harrison, singing Something....
the show was incredible, the lights and the sounds. It was awesome something I will remember forever.

The concert lasted for three hours and I think he could have sang for a week he has so much good music to choose from.
it even rained during the concert and that didn't stop anyone from having a good time. Can't wait for him to tour again!

EM's Mojito Tutorial

Mojitos are my favorite drink and I love making them for people, they involve a bit of work but are so tasty that they are well worth it. Recently someone asked how I make them and in an effort to pass on my recipe and method I decided to put together this tutorial for all to read. [of course that person who asked for the recipe has already created her own version of them which I can't wait to try.]

Step 1: gather your ingredients

The ingredients I use are: sugar (granulated) limes, fresh mint, barcardi rum and splash of sprite at the end.

I have a small garden on my balcony and have been growing mint for awhile specifically for mojitos.

Step 2: Cut up the limes (usually I use half a lime for each drink, cut in quarters) add a tablespoon of sugar and then muddle to squeeze out the juice of the limes and mix in the sugar.

this is what it will look like once it's been muddled.

Step 3: Add the mint and then muddle again.

Step 4: The most important add rum (to your liking)

Step 5: add ice
Step 6: top it off with some sprite and....
Voila you have a delicious refreshing mojito.

CHEERS!
